Summary:
The MSO Manager Treatment - Water Plant Maintenance & Inventory, will be responsible for managing the maintenance staff for water treatment and MSO Inventory Administrators.
Your core duties will involve prioritizing, assigning, and scheduling repairs and preventive maintenance to keep the plants in optimal operational order, while ensuring compliance through treatment maintenance staff and multiple contractors.
Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Plans, prioritizes, assigns, schedules, supervises, reviews, and coordinates the work of maintenance staff responsible for maintenance services within treatment facilities.
Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates supervised personnel; provides or coordinates training; conducts regular performance reviews of assigned staff; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
Develop and administer budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; direct and oversee the purchase of authorized materials and equipment, maintain accurate records; recommend adjustments as necessary, in accordance with City policies.
Identify, coordinate, and ensure follow-through for preventative maintenance and repair activities.
Monitors and develops applicable safety procedures; ensures safe work practices by employees.
Conducts routine meetings to review safety practices and procedures.
Maintains a clean, safe workplace, including all departmental safety and security programs and procedures.
In concert with other management staff, develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for facilities and programs, including technological advancement, regulatory compliance, opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures, record keeping and trending, having the authorization to change internal procedures or how-to's, but not policies.
Works outside scheduled work hours as required in emergency situations to maintain proper operation of systems and equipment for 24/7 delivery of water and wastewater services.
Hold call duty as assigned and as required in emergency situations.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses issues with either water or wastewater processes, including both electrical and mechanical equipment.
Use and train others on the interpretation/application of maps, blueprints, shop drawings, cut sheets, schematics, and/or diagrams.
Monitor and maintain an organized inventory of chemicals, equipment and/or supplies; research and acquire materials as needed.
Knowledge/Abilities Development, coordination, and training of computer technologies for asset management, inventory management, operational data, performance monitoring, record keeping, and/or service delivery Compile/maintain accurate reports, logs, records and data for recordkeeping, communication and operational purposes through computer resources and otherwise, some of which may include detailed as-built drawings.
Plan for and execute various construction, maintenance, operational or treatment tasks.
Principles and practices of purchasing, inventory control and warehousing Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you should have a combination of experience and training that would provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills.
One way to obtain this would be:
Education:
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Training:
Training in mechanical systems, building trades, equipment maintenance, water/wastewater treatment operations (or equivalent knowledge of biology, chemistry, microbiology, or related field) is preferred.
Experience:
Three to five years of experience in a relevant area, such as mechanical/equipment maintenance and repair, computer programming, laboratory analysis, water/wastewater plant treatment, and distribution/collections systems.
Should also have two years of experience in a supervisory role.
Certification:
Must have a current ABC Plant Maintenance III Certification or the ability to obtain it within 24 months of the hire date.
Additional Certifications from the following are preferred:
KDHE Class IV Water Supply System Operator Certification ABC Distribution or Laboratory Certification Other Requirements:
Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.
Must pass City background, physical, and drug screens.
