Non Exempt DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Specialist will be tasked with the operational activities of the Finance Department, to include assistance with all accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll activities.
This position will work with the Finance Manager to ensure all daily activities, internal controls, and reporting obligations are met, as well as assist the CFO when necessary.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, process-driven environment where accuracy and detail orientation is a priority.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general supervision from the Chief Financial Officer and when necessary, the Finance Manager.
Exercises no supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1.
Performs or assists in the process of accounts payable, including ensuring the Procurement Policy is met and coding is accurate.
This process also includes Housing Assistance Payments.
2.
Performs or assists in the accounts receivable process, to include daily deposit processing, A/R billing as necessary, and analysis of aging A/R accounts.
3.
Performs or assists in the payroll process, including calculating time entry, processing benefit changes as needed, reconciling liability accounts, and assisting in the onboarding process.
4.
Maintains and tracks monthly utility ledgers for grant funding and compliance purposes.
5.
Manages the purchase card system to ensure critical purchasing needs are met, efficient purchasing practices exist, and strong controls are in place for the organization.
6.
Provide feedback to the CFO when policy-making decisions are made.
7.
Manage the inventory process, to include proper classification and life-cycle tracking.
8.
Assist in the ordering process for internal departments to ensure necessary resources are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
9.
Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:
? Basic accounting skills specific to daily operating accounting tasks ? Accounting software ? Correspondence composition and command of business English ? Operation of modern office equipment Ability to:
? Accurately perform data entry, typing and 10-key skills ? Accurately perform mathematical calculations ? Respect and maintain privacy and confidentiality of personnel information and files ? Maintain an organized filing and tracking system EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
Experience:
? Clerical, accounting or bookkeeping experience in computerized environment Training:
? High school diploma ? Associates degree preferred License or Certificate:
Must possess and maintain an applicable Kansas Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the LDCHA's insurance carrier.
