Director of Education and/or Center Director GENERAL SUMMARYThe Lead Teacher is responsible for monitoring and providing support to the instructional area, ensuring that teachers are practicing good instructional management.
When Directors are unavailable or not in the Center, the Lead Teacher serves as the point-of-contact for teaching staff and manages Center operations, ensuring a high quality personal customer experience.
Lead Teacher communicates staff performance, customer issues, and student progress to the Center's Director(s).
Lead Teacher also delivers instruction as needed.

30 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSManages teachers, tasks and time to create balanced and robust instructional sessionsMonitors staff to ensure teachers deliver instruction as designed and that educational Center policies and procedures are followedAttends to immediate instructor needs, such as requests for materials or assistance with instructionAssumes teacher responsibilities in emergency scheduling or capacity situationsAssists teachers with preparation for instruction; Gathers materials as appropriateObserves and coaches teachers on a regular basisChecks students in and out of the CenterGreets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards with particular attention to student safety and well-beingOpens and closes the Center according to procedures, securing all materialsFields inquiry calls, takes payments, updates schedules, and books appointments for DirectorsEscalates service or other issues that require Director intervention KNOWLEDGE REQUIREDFour year degree or equivalent requiredOne to two years teaching experience preferredExperience using Microsoft Office and other standard business applications used by the CenterKnowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phonesKnowledge of iPad and tablet computers preferred SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDProven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learnStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCoaching skillsStrong analytical, problem solving, and customer service skillsStrong organizational skills; Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexibleSelf-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasksProven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audienceAbility to work collaboratively; Strong team playerAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
