The Customer Information Specialist is responsible for providing communications and switchboard operations for all customers in an exceptional, attentive, pleasant, and efficient manner.
This position handles internal and external telephone operations routing calls to appropriate departments, providing patient information, paging and is responsible for responding quickly, calmly and accurately to all security and code alarm systems.

Responsibilities Responsible for communications/switchboard operations.
Listens and directs calls to the proper individual or department promptly and courteously.
Knowledgeable of hospital services, activities and events.
Provides patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Assists with long distance dialing for hospital staff and patients.
Facilitates the use of the Language Line for non-English speaking customers and assisting TDD service for hearing impaired customers.
Monitors gas alarms, generator alarms, fire alarms and weather radio alerts.
Responds quickly to and announces calmly and accurately all codes and alarms over a PA system and performs all additional steps per various code protocols.
Notifies Security of codes and alarms by radio Handles responsibilities as a communication center during emergency/disaster procedures for disaster exercises or actual disasters.
Logs documentation of all codes, answering service calls, helicopter flights.
Basic computer usage, Microsoft Word, Outlook and preferably Excel.
Ability to work within a flexible schedule to meet department's needs; promptness and reliability are essential.
Requires autonomy; critical thinking skills and ability to be independent and flexible in decision making.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications Required:
High school graduate or equivalent Preferred:

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
