## Job Description
Responsible for the maintenance of all transmission equipment for the given city to include Nortel OC48, OC12, M13 MUX, DACS, Access Node, Access Node Express, and channel banks, DS3/DS1 and turn up.
MAJOR DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1. Trouble isolation and recovery of transport electronics and transmission circuits in a efficient and timely manner.
2. Provides support and preventive maintenance of transport electronics.
3. Turn up and testing of transmission circuits (DS3, DS1, & DS0), includes termination of communication coax, ABAM, and cross-connect wiring.
4. Responsible for monitoring and reporting the status of transport installation projects.
5. Required to be on call for emergencies and work unusual hours for maintenance and outages.
6. Serves as backup to the Copper transmission tech.
## Requirements / Qualifications
Must have had at least 5 years of telephony experience and 2 to 3 years' experience in transport to include experience with and an understanding of OC48, OC12, OC3, M13 Muxing, DACS, Channel banks, DS0, DS1, and DS3. Should be proficient with troubleshooting techniques on DS0 to DS3, Optical circuits and T-Bird or Sunset series test equipment (or equivalent). Should also, be familiar with various forms of breakouts, patch panels, and installation methods for communication racks, bays, and ladder racks. Requires high school diploma or GED with an associates in electronics or equivalent experience.
