The purpose of this position is to provide professional analytical, statistical support to studies and reviews of a special nature or of particular interest to Academic Affairs.
INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). Develops protocols for integration, analysis and policy management of institutional and student data, particularly the office of the President and Academic Affairs.
Works professionally and independently from initial planning to the production of the final statistical products. Prepares statistical and narrative analytical summaries, and presents them via written reports and studies or briefings upon request.
Researches, designs and distributes surveys and other data collection instruments.
Gathers, configures, quantifies, and interprets statistical data/reports/graphs applying a variety of statistical techniques.
Extracts pertinent data from various existing databases and creates new databases to support projects.
Analyzes institutional data to support program planning and review, budget development, sponsored research, enrollment management, assessment, student advancement and retention.
Prepares documentation of procedures, findings, and problems encountered with recommendations.
Assists the Office of the Registrar with the improvement of CAMS, including data collection and management protocol, cleansing of historical data; creation and maintenance of census data files; and coordination and scheduling of training on data management systems.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion a full four year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing. OR
The appropriate combination of education and experience--courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
In addition to the basic requirements listed above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirements listed below.
SPECIALIZED
Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples may include: Applying knowledge of statistical methods, procedures, and techniques to the collection, processing, compilation, computation, analysis and presentation of statistical data. Responsibilities include education data analysis and collection, writing of reports and protocols, methodology design, analysis and policy management of institutional and student data. Desired knowledge will also include data management systems in university and federal settings, in particular the ability to generate multiple statistical reports, i.e. IPEDS (Integrated Post-secondary Education Data Systems) and retention and graduation reports. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
For GS-11 position is 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-09 grade level.
