The purpose of this position is to serve as Administrative Support Assistant to the VP, University Services and the staff, to plan, program and follow-through to completion a variety of administrative/program support assignments.
INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). Establish databases and maintain a continual accumulation of all types of data for use in preparation of a variety of administrative and program reports.
Perform administrative work, which includes managing schedules for the Supervisor.
Manage a wide variety of correspondence from within and outside the University Services for the Supervisor on administrative matters, and prepares responses as necessary.
Maintain program files in accordance with governing regulatory procedures and direction.
Serve as the point of contact and controls all travel matters for University Services
Act as a liaison or handle the communication with persons and/or groups within and outside of University Services.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For GS-07 position: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-06 grade level.
Examples of qualifying experience include: provided assistance for program planning, program support and follow-through to completion a variety of administrative and/or program support responsibilities necessary for management and control of programs and activities; prepared requisitions; maintained automated system of program-specific data; scheduled day-to-day office plans and staff schedules; assisted in correspondence control; gathered financial data for review and comparison; made travel arrangements and prepared travel authorizations and vouchers; maintained time and attendance reports; and finalized documents using software applications as electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, spreadsheet, database and graphics.

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicants for this position must show possession of Office Automation skills and must have typing proficiency of 40 words per minute. Applicants must meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue certificates by the Office of Personnel Management, or by self-certifying their proficiency.
SUITABILITY & CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: A background security investigation is required. Appointment is subject to the successful completion of the security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT: Incumbent may be required, as an incidental duty, to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle, in the performance of duties, therefore, a valid driver's license is required. Incumbent must have a safe driving record within the three-year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607 and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Education.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
