Administrative Office Assistant/Student Hourly/Work Study POOL

## Position Overview
The Administrative Office Assistant is the first point of contact for various offices within the School of Architecture, Design & Urban Planning. The successful candidate will provide office support as outlined below in a professional manner. The successful candidate will be polite, friendly, dependable, able to work independently, and possess excellent phone etiquette.
## Job Description
The Office Assistant may be responsible for:
1. Answering a multi-line telephone, greeting walk-in guests, and providing basic information regarding the building facilities, educational programs, etc.
2. Other duties may include sorting mail, running errands, photocopying, scanning, filing, and completing data entry.
3. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
## Required Qualifications
1. Have general knowledge or a willingness to learn about standard office equipment including photocopiers, fax machines, scanners, etc. as outlined in application materials.
2. Have general knowledge or a willingness to learn about Microsoft Word and Excel through previous work experience OR course work as demonstrated in application materials.
3. Current KU student enrolled in a minimum of 6-hours
## Preferred Qualifications
1. First preference given to students not seeking a degree within the School of Architecture, Design & Urban Planning.
2. Previous office or clerical experience.
3. Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Outlook experience a plus.
4. Comfortable meeting a wide variety of people on a walk-in basis (faculty, students, upper administration, parents, prospective students, etc.)
5. Eligible for Federal Work Study.

This is a POOL posting. Review of applications will be ongoing and hires will be made as needed throughout the posting period.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
