## Job Description
Help Graduate Military Programs and the KU Student Veteran Center share their stories. Job duties include: helping develop communications strategies, writing articles/press releases, generating web and social media content, helping manage multiple social media platforms, assisting with special events (including KU Vets Day Run and the Student Veteran Center grand opening), and other duties as assigned. As a VA Work Study student, all of your efforts will focus on KU?s military-connected students.
## Required Qualifications
1. KU student in good standing and enrolled in the minimum three credit hours ( depending on eligibility).
2. VA Work Study eligible. To determine eligibility, visit: the VA?s Work Study page.
3. Experience working independently and efficiently as demonstrated in application materials.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated in application materials and interview.
5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as described in application materials and interview.
6. Social media experience (generating content, managing multiple platforms) as described in application materials
7. Interviewing, writing, and editing/proofreading skills as demonstrated by application materials.
8. Basic photography skills as outlined in application materials.
## Preferred Qualifications
1. Ability to work with a wide range of students, prospective students, faculty, and staff.
2. Prior experience in web design, editing, or use of CMS.
3. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign.
4. Basic design skills (fliers, brochures, etc.).
5. Experience managing or assisting with special events.
6. Strategic communications experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
