Communications Specialist

Position Overview
The Lindley Hall Communications Specialist will help with outreach for Geology, Geography and Environmental Studies units housed in Lindley to include keeping the departmental websites up to date, sending out communications, and overall public relations for the department. This position may also include some traveling (less than 10%) .
Job Description
Support the public relations of the units
Update the units websites, social media accounts, and manage content to include: show casing the departments work using software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Assist with newsletters, press releases, and other communications
Support the production of brochures and advertising for the department
Prepare communications for donors to include: thank you letters, solicitation letters, etc. Support events on campus and provide coverage where needed.
Update email and mailing lists for announcements. Coordinate alumni lists and maintain a contact list of graduates
Travel to local locations of field trips and speeches to take photographs and write up small articles on the event
Management of day-to-day signage and updating of designs and media content to keep hallway display content current
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Mass Communications, Media Relations, Journalism, or a related field, plus minimum of 1 year of related experience
Computer skills with a PC/Windows and Mac as demonstrated by application materials and previous experience
Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail as demonstrated by application materials
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with training on the following software packages on both Macintosh and Windows operating systems: Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver Illustrator, Flash, and Microsoft Office
Two years technical support and troubleshooting abilities with Mac/PC Computers and peripherals
Knowledge of Environmental Studies, Geography, and/or Geolog

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
