IT Data Scientist Senior

Position Overview
The IT Data Scientist Senior is expected to work both independently and collaboratively within a standards-based team to define, implement, and maintain the data strategy to support the overall data warehouse. This position reports to the Data Warehouse Manager/Engineer. The incumbent works closely with clients, data stewards, the Data Warehouse Manager/Engineer, Data Analysts, and other IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions.
Job Description
20% - Designs experiments, test hypotheses, and architects models.
20% - Conducts advanced data analysis and designs highly complex algorithms.
20% - Architects and designs data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
20% - Leads the design and deployment of enhancements.
10% - Collaborates with Institute subject matter experts and other Data Scientists to select the relevant Data Sources.
5% - Communicates frequently with the Data Warehouse Manager/Engineer and provides status updates and knowledge to clients and peers.
5% - Other related duties as assigned

This position shares in responsibility for information security by following all applicable security policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree and six years relevant experience or equivalent.
6+ years of experience with RDBMS (SQL) - prefer Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL
4+ years of experience with programming language, such as Java, C++, C#, or python.
4+ years of experience with Data Acquisition, Processing, and Modeling.
4+ years of experience working with statistical techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Azure Data Warehouse, SQL Server Analysis Services, or SQL Server Integration Services,
Experience with Power BI, OBIEE/BICS, Tableau, or other Business Intelligence tools.
Experience manipulating large sets of Unstructured Data using Big Data technologies and Structured Data using databases (SQL, )
Experience with Hadoop and Big Data Technologies (MapReduce, HDFS, Spark, Hive) and statistical modeling (like R).
The ability to come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection over potentially large datasets.
Experience with principles of distributed computing and/or distributed databases
Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and management including excellent presentation and writing skills.
Strong time-management and organizational skills, with a record of being flexible, accurate, detail-oriented, reliable and self-motivated.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
