Student Hourly-Shop Technician POOL

## Position Overview
Assist students and faculty in preparation and fabrication of a variety of art & design projects. Assist students in proper tool use and safety procedures. Assist supervisor in maintenance of equipment, tools, and inventory. General house-keeping. Help students trouble shoot design and construction problems that occur. Monitor shop and make sure all safety rules are followed and work areas are kept clean.
## Job Description
The successful candidate will have a willingness to help shop users, enforce proper safety procedures and be able to communicate procedures and techniques effectively. The candidate will be responsible and dependable as demonstrated through previous work experience and be able to work with minimal supervision. They will also have a basic knowledge of all shop safety practices and be able to do heavy lifting of up to 100 pounds. The successful candidate will be able to perform basic math calculations.
## Required Qualifications
1. Have prior experience of wood shop tools and processes.
2. Have prior experience of plastic and metal fabrication processes.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
## Preferred Qualifications
1. Be work study eligible.
2. Be available for 3-5 hour blocks of time during the day, evenings, or weekends.
3. Be able to take initiative when beginning & completing assigned duties.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
