This position is located at the Haskell Indian Health Center in Lawrence, Kansas. The incumbent will be responsible for the operation of the health information management/medical records department including accuracy of data entered into the Patient Care Component System. Incumbent reports to the Administrative Officer..

### Duties
Medical Record duties include analysis of clinical records in relation to professional standards
Assisting and updating coding guidelines as required, compilation of statistical and epidemiological data
Designing data collections systems for research
Serves as the advisor to the Chief Executive Officer
Responsible for HIPPA/Privacy training for all staff including reporting of violation and investigating violations

### Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have had one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level OR master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Planning, developing, and directing a medical records program for a health care facility that meets both institutional goals and standards of accrediting agencies.
Evaluating and analyzing the organization and operation of medical records services, including medical records and indexes, and recommending and/or implementing appropriate revisions and modifications.
Assisting medical and administrative staff in evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient and health care services.
Designing information systems to collect, analyze, monitor, report, and maintain privacy and confidentiality of patient and institutional data for health care related programs, and evaluating and implementing changes to assure the reliability of data.
Developing and implementing policies and procedures for processing legal medical documents and insurance and correspondence requests in accordance with Federal, State, and local statutes.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
