POOL - Lecturer - Mechanical Engineering

## Position Overview
Teach various courses in KU Mechanical Engineering. Could be responsible for a full course completely independent of ME faculty, or could be responsible for part of course in a team-teaching situation - - depending upon the needs of the Department. This person is expected to evaluate the course and overall student performance as needed with regard to accreditation documentation and to Departmental course improvement processes. Percent time will vary depending upon the course, but can range (part-time, regular or temporary) from 10% to 25% FTE.
Applications will be reviewed and placed in a pool to be considered for teaching positions as needed. Applications will be accepted throughout the year. Appointments are one semester, renewable, subject to review and funding. The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.
## Job Description
100% - The person in this position is responsible for giving lectures, holding office hours, giving and grading a reasonable amount of homework, giving and grading exams, and giving and grading projects. In addition, the person in this position will assign final grades in the course; or, in a team-teaching situation, participate with a faculty member in assigning final grades.
## Required Qualifications
1. BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering OR demonstrate the equivalent through a combination of a BS in a related discipline and 1 to 4 years of work experience.
2. Experience in teaching/leading 1 to 3 courses, seminars, or workshops in Mechanical Engineering courses, specifically in fundamental courses (typically freshman and sophomore courses); OR a Ph.D. in an Engineering or related field.
## Preferred Qualifications
1. PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. Significant teaching experience in various ME courses, both fundamental and advanced (graduate level).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
