Student Lab Assistant

## Job Description
Assist Lab Director / Coordinator in maintenance and up-keep of lab. This includes: hands-on labs and computer classrooms in the Aerospace Engineering department on campus and at the Lawrence airport. Responsible for learning and operating wind tunnels, test chambers and operation of various labs. Assist with organizing and setting up offices, moving furniture / equipment as needed. Assist main office staff as needed. Other duties may include: Light to medium duty cleaning; painting; running errands to hardware stores and/or on campus; locating, inventory of parts and materials. Position will be terminated if KU GPA falls below the required minimum of 3.0.
## Required Qualifications
1. Be an Aerospace Engineering student
2. Be enrolled in 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters
3. Have a minimum KU GPA of 3.0
4. Must have knowledge and experience with Microsoft OS and third-party software. Entry-level computer proficiency with ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems associated with Microsoft OS.
5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
6. Knowledge of hand and power tools found in homes and industry. Basic metal and woodworking skills desirable.
7. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
8. Good organizational skills.
Have reliable transportation in order to go to KU airport facilities and running errands in town.
## Preferred Qualifications
1. KU GPA of 3.25
2. Knowledge of Lab View.
3. Knowledge of basic electronics. Familiarity with components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc. Use of multimeters and oscilloscopes desirable.
Knowledge of Aerospace Instrumentation and Avionics equipment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
