Asst/Assoc Professor of the Practice - BSIT Program

## Position Overview
The BSIT Program at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus (Overland Park, KS) invites applications from qualified professionals in Information Technology and related fields. These positions are full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of the Practice (open rank). Depending on years of experience in the IT industry, an appointment as assistant, associate, or full Professor of the Practice is possible. Anticipated hire date for one position is Spring 2017 with the second position hire date at the same time or possibly Fall 2017.
We seek individuals with industry experience in information technology who have exceptional communication skills and a strong commitment to train and develop future information technology professionals. The ideal candidate will have a developed teaching philosophy and a demonstrated desire to inspire students and encourage lifelong learning in information technology. Candidates with seven or more years of practical experience in the Information Technology industry will be considered for an appointment as an assistant, associate, or full Professor of the Practice. Rank will be determined based on years of industry experience.

## Job Description
65% - Teaching: Teaching three courses each in Fall and Spring semesters and one course in summer semesters in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program at the KU Edwards Campus (KUEC);
35% - Service: Service duties that include actively engaging in promoting the BSIT program; enhancing and improving its curriculum; engaging in scholarly pedagogical and professional development activities; and collaborating with faculty and staff at the KUEC in promotional activities.
## Required Qualifications
1. A Master?s degree in information technology, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline.
2. Seven or more years of professional or industry experience in information technology.
Rank of position will be determined based upon years of qualified experience.
## Preferred Qualifications
1. Teaching experience in either of the following areas:
software engineering, system integration, IT project management
information security management, operating systems, cybersecurity
2. Ph.D. in IT or a related field
3. Experience in promoting educational programs and recruiting students
4. Ability to communicate ideas effectively and to work well with others

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
