Student Office Assistant

## Job Description
Opening starting January 17 to assist the School's Resource Center Coordinator, Business Manager and/or Executive Assistant to the Dean in a variety of areas. Duties include, but are not limited to: telephone, reception and screening, greeting visitors and resolving and/or referring inquires, assisting faculty, staff and students with equipment, running errands, setting up new files, maintaining files, photocopying, assisting with coverage in the School of Journalism's Dean's office and other duties as required.
## Required Qualifications
1. Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
2. Able to commit to a set schedule and open to School's need for occasional extra hours.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
## Preferred Qualifications
1. 1 year of previous experience working in an office environment.
2. Dependable, organized, detail oriented, demonstrates initiative and has a positive attitude.
3. Must have a good work ethic and be self-driven to complete assigned tasks.
4. Excellent communication and customer service skills as demonstrated by application materials and interview.
5. Ability to work collegially with others.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
